Delivering services in the right place
The gradual withdrawal of Unitary Council services and the impact on the local environment and quality of life is a key issue for our Town. Guardians Councillors have responded to this crisis by supporting
- the take-over of functions such as public toilets and grass cutting by the Town Council
- the merger of Roundway Parish and Devizes Town Council to create a new Town Council which will be stronger and better able to deliver the services needed to ensure our town remains a pleasant environment in which to live and work.
- the campaign to strengthen the role of the Town Council, by seeking to take on street cleaning and to manage assets such as the Market Place and Shambles to make them more responsive to our needs, and to promote the health of our local economy.
